About T & J

Hello and Welcome

Terry and Janelle are an Australian couple who spend their down time making epic motorcycle adventures.

In The Beginning

They met in 2012 and prior to that Janelle had no experience of motorcycles at all, well… except for some negative ones. Terry had been riding for the better part of 20 years including some years involved with road racing in the roles of team manager, media manager, mechanic and eventually a competitor in the NSW PCRA championship.

He is an experienced motorcycle mechanic and for many years ran his own workshop  in Canberra specialising in performance Japanese bikes.

Europe 2013

In 2013 they went to England intending to ride a 5 week lap of Western Europe on a rented Honda Blackbird. The misadventure went off the rails after only 3 days when and just a few hours before departing UK for Belgium, Terry threw himself down a flight of stairs and ended up battered and broken, but surprisingly…  alive.

The trip then became a sedate car journey around England, Wales and northern France, returning many times to their sanctuary at Little Venice in London. They resolved to take the lessons learned and redo the trip a year later.

Europe 2014

And so a year to the day, in September 2014 they flew back into London and a few days later collected the motorcycle that would be their home for 5 weeks – the amazing 2014 Ducati Multistrada.

And there began a journey of 9000 kms over 8 countries, 2 up on the big Ducati 1200. Highlights include a couple of laps of the life altering Nordschlieffe, a birthday in Berlin, climbing the most overrated road in the world – Stelvio Pass in Italy, and the most underrated – all the passes in Switzerland, parasailing at the Matterhorn, cruising along the Seine in Paris , lapping the Arc de Triomph, and…

…getting engaged in Venice – as you do.

You can read all about the Eurolaps here.

USA 2018

Following their return to Australia in late October, it didn’t take them long to decide upon another huge adventure – a 3 month hot lap of mainland USA. But just to be different, and because Janelle has since become an accomplished rider herself, they will do this trip on 2 bikes.

The AdvRider.com online forum proved invaluable by putting them in contact with hundreds of Adventure Riders in USA who have helped them plan it all.  But special mention must go to The Famous James in Los Angeles who has come onboard as their US agent and then found, purchased and set up their bikes. Two late model Suzuki DL650 Vstroms are now ready and waiting for them.
